To learn more about Jeff and his daughter and their needs, please take a moment to view this video showing them in their home environment.

As a single father living on Social Security Disability, Jeff cannot possibly meet all of the financial demands his condition has placed upon him and his daughter. In addition to normal living expenses, Jeff has an abundance of special needs.

Included among Jeff's special needs are:

Caregiver expenses
Wheelchair and mobility devices
Computer and other communication devices
Adaptive equipment and technology
The hiring of technicians for implementation and maintenance of adaptive equipment and technology
Medical expenses not covered by Medicare

It is the goal of Friends of Jeff to ease the burden Jeff's illness has brought to Jeff and his daughter in whatever manner possible. Below, we have outlined some specific goals we hope to achieve.

  • Handicap Accessible Van    Jeff's current van is impractical for Jeff's current and future needs. It is imperative that we be able to purchase Jeff a properly equipped van so that his family and caregivers can transport him and his mobility devices (wheelchairs and scooter). The cost of such a vehicle can be quite expensive ( $20,000 - 40,000. This need is at the top of our priority list.
  • Power Wheelchair Modifications – As Jeff's body changes, so must his wheelchair. Thanks to your donations, we were able to purchase Jeff a new manual wheelchair . However , Jeff's power chair will take some serious modifications to become useful to him again.

Although Jeff has other needs that need filling, these are the areas that need attention first. We thank you for standing with us in filling these needs!

The impact of your donations of time and resources have already made a HUGE impact in the lives of Jeff and his daughter. We thought we would let Jeff tell you himself.

When my friend, Gerald Graves, first approached me with the idea for Friends of Jeff, I remember being excited. I remember how good it felt to imagine not having to worry about what expenses might be lurking around the corner, or what special needs might arise due to my illness. But when Michelle Baldwin took control of the project and prepared to send out letters asking for donations, I got a little scared. I remember thinking, "Will people think this is inappropriate? Will people look down at me? What if no one donates?"

The letters and emails of support I received were incredible. People made donations both large and small. Whether you wrote to me or made a donation, you answered my questions loud and clear. You made it clear to me how much you care and want to help. Whether your donation was large or small, or if you simply wrote to me in support, you have made a HUGE difference in my life. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
