Gene Simmons and Tommy Thayer of the rock band
KISS will host the "Friends of Jeff Benefit Dinner" Thursday evening
September 18th, 2008
at a private residence in Lake Oswego, Oregon to raise money for their
close friend and local Lake Oswego resident Jeff Young who has been
battling ALS (Lou
Gehrig's disease) for many years now.
Jeff Young is an inspiration to all that know him. A 1980 graduate from Lake Oswego High School; Jeff was pursuing a promising college football career at Southern Oregon University, when in 1983 he was diagnosed with ALS and given just three years to live. 25 years later, Jeff's positive mind-set and inspirational work has driven him with an intensity and vigor that puts him among the very small percentile of ALS survivors who live more than 20 years with this killer disease. "Friends of Jeff," is an organization formed by loyal friends and family that remain dedicated in helping Jeff with his needs. Though wheelchair-bound, and speech impaired, Jeff's motivational work with the Lake Oswego football team found him a spot on the LO coaching staff for the past three years. And for five years now, Jeff has painstakingly written his "Jeff's Inspirational Quotation's" on his home computer. Circulating his message to an email list of several thousand readers daily, Jeff inspires us to all live life to it's fullest and be thankful for all the blessings we have in our lives - truly a testimonial to Jeff's amazing spirit and commitment to helping others.
